My name is Solomon Wendemu. I am 22 years old and I finished the Alchemy World Microsoft ICT & Entrepreneurship course in 2012.
Since I finished this I have been working with an NGO in Hawassa that helps orphans. The NGO bought a Bajaj and with it I can run my business. So every day I pay them 100 birr for using the Bajaj and what else I earn I get to keep for myself. So you can say that I rent the Bajaj. It is work and for this I earn enough to cover my expenses after I pay the NGO. On a bad day I make maybe 70-80 birr. On a good day I make up to 350. And it is enough to cover my living expenses.
The Entrepreneurship course with Alchemy has helped me to see my opportunities. Before that I didn’t have any job. But after the Alchemy course I took my driving license and made myself this job opportunity.
For the future I want to have my own Bajaj, a second hand Bajaj, one or two years old. A new Bajaj costs 81.000 birr but a good second hand costs 50-60.000 birr. So now I am saving up for that. Maybe I can buy it in one or two years. I want to keep driving Bajaj. I also want to keep working with the NGO. And if another business opportunity comes along I will use my work experience and what I have learned from my training with Alchemy World.
